An End-Of-Life Educational Series, sponsored by Mid-Columbia Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and co-led by Rev. Barbara Prose and Tamara Thiel, Columbia Gorge End-of-Life Doula. Each workshop will focus on various end of life topics and include discussions. They will take place on the last Sunday of the month, March through July. 12:30 – 2 pm at Rockford Grange. Series by donation.
This series is an opportunity to befriend mortality, gather information and resources, learn about options available, and offer deep contemplation on death. All gatherings are open to the public so please invite your friends, family, and neighbors.
This is the last workshop of our series and it will be a tour. Please head directly to the Green Burial Cemetery for the 1 pm meetup.
- July 27 – Green Burial Cemetery Outing
Tour of the conservation grounds of Great River Natural Burial Cemetery in Mosier, OR with the founder/owner, Russell Hargrave. We will meet there. Directions are available on their website: www.greatriveroregon.org
From Russell Hargrave, owner of Great River Conservation Burial Cemetery:
Group arrival at 1:00 pm. I think it’s best to meet up at the burial ground. So, people should drive through the front gate and follow the signs to “Burial Ground” and then follow the “Parking” signs to park in the large parking lot above the burial ground. If people have mobility challenges then they can park in the smaller parking area by the kiosk at the entrance to the burial ground. Warn them not to follow google as it will direct them up into the woods…
Our address is 2350 Carroll Road, Mosier, Oregon. If anything changes or you are running early or late, just text/call me at (541) 490-6001.
Directions to Great River:
- Take exit 69 off of Interstate 84 and drive into Mosier.
- Turn right onto Washington St, and then take the first left onto Third St.
- Proceed up the hill and turn right onto Carroll Road just after the bridge.
- Great River is about 3 ½ miles up Carroll Road. Our driveway is on the left about ½ mile after the road turns to gravel. It is a paved driveway with our number, 2350, on a red sign near the road.
What to Expect:
While we have limited amenities, we want to make sure you’re comfortable, please wear casual, outdoor clothes and sturdy shoes. The Columbia River Gorge can be windy so you may wish to bring a warm windproof outer layer. There is drinking water and a porta-potty on site.
