From “Love Will Guide Us,” Hymn #131, gray hymnal. Speaker: Pat Evenson-Brady. On nearly every indicator of “the good life,” Native Americans rank at the bottom of ethnic groups. How did this happen? And how can we support actions to change this awful pattern? “The Road from Greed to Giving” starts with us knowing clearly what are “…the many wrongs that our government has done to Native Americans…” so that we can ameliorate those events and then take actions to heal these still-present wounds. Can the current issues faced by Natives in Oregon and Washington be directly traced back to the 1850 Donation Land Claims? We will look at some history and then spend some time discussing what we as a Fellowship and as individuals can do now to change the outcomes of these historic wrongs with our lifetimes.
