Content or Complacent?

Sunday, November 24 at 10 am. Continuing this month’s theme of “gratitude” we welcome back to our pulpit Danielle Garrett, who is serving this year as assistant minister at First Unitarian Church of Portland. The poet Mary Oliver writes, “Sometimes I need only to stand wherever I am to be blessed.”  It’s a powerful sentiment, but one that can also leave us feeling stuck. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, how can we hold gratitude for the gifts we have, while recognizing that sometimes we need to work for change in the world and make changes in our own lives. What spiritual practices can we use to help us distinguish contentment from complacency?  Hybrid service; the speaker will be in person at The Grange. Celebrant: Bonnie Withers.
