With Dan Ball celebrant, and Susan Randolph accompanist. (In-person at the Rockford Grange, ONLY) As we celebrate Black History Month, let us recognize the vital contributions to the creation and establishment of our country by our African American brothers and sisters. Most of these vital contributions have not been taught in our schools nor in our white-written history books. After hundreds of years, the contribution of gospel music is still captivating because it stands against a background of today’s social problems and dilemmas. Early recording technology allows us to hear the works of many well-known and not so well know musicians. Let’s explore some music from early gospel to the Motown sound and hear the messages of love, hope, and peace. Come on over, and let’s get down together!
