Our Pulpit Guest this Sunday is Stephen Cook from Columbia Land Trust. Steve serves as General Legal Counsel for the Trust, working closely with its Board of Directors. He recently delivered an Earth Day sermon to a Presbyterian congregation in Portland drawing from both Old and New Testament sources to bring a message of hope in the face of an uncertain and often frightening future.
Steve joined the Trust in 2013 after a career in private law practice. With more than 15 years working in land conservation, Steve has been instrumental in maintaining the Land Trust’s accreditation and in the impressive work of the Trust to conserve key properties throughout the five ecological regions of the Lower Columbia River stretching from the John Day River to Astoria and the Pacific Coast. Steve has been instrumental in the Trust’s efforts to achieve its mission to promote “…science-based, community driven stewardship” of our lands and natural environment. Steve loves to hike, grow his own food, cook, and write.
