(In-person Only, at The Rockford Grange) Come join us as we raise our voices once again in song to celebrate labor and the struggle for justice, fairness and dignity in our many workplaces. Paul Blackburn and Dick Withers return to lead the picking and singing. Dan Ball is our celebrant and we’ll also hear from Bonnie Withers and Lori Golze. We’ll sing some old favorites like The Hammer Song and This Land is Your Land. Songs that call us feel the struggle and pain including Deportee and Aragon Mill and songs that urge us to organize like Joe Hill and Step by Step. And, of course, some songs that are both fun and a bit subversive like The Housewife’s Lament and Charlie on the MTA.
The Labor Day Singalong has become an annual tradition at MCUUF as we say “goodbye” to the summer and “hello” to the coming congregational year.
