On my second Easter with you, I look forward to digging a little deeper into the mystery of death and rebirth the Easter story tells. This year, it strikes me that our speakers over the last several weeks have been presenting evidence that we each have a story to tell about death not being the end of the story.  What do I mean?

In our service about recovery, in our celebration of the rites of spring and in calling forward the wisdom of our ancestors, our own lives offer evidence of the reality of resurrection.

You yourselves, have emerged from the tomb of depression or despair, addiction, shame or isolation. We are witnesses to our very own resurrections. Who among us can’t point to a time in our lives when all seemed lost, and then suddenly hope returned? If my job on Easter is to convince you – not that the resurrection happened, but that it happens – my job is done. What other proof do you need?

I trust you to tell me when we see each other this Easter Sunday.

With love beyond belief, Barbara
