Reminder: 9 am All-Ages Popup Choir Practice and New Member Ceremony this week.
Our Fellowship stands in a centuries-long religious tradition that has seen God, and the good in history, to be present in the unfolding of freedom. Examples include: the freedom of the ancient Israelites from slavery in Egypt, the emancipation of slaves in the United States of America, freedom to worship as we want – or not, freedom of scientists to experiment, freedom of speech, freedom to vote, a free press, freedom to marry and to move, and so many more. As so many institutions protecting our freedoms are closing or collapsing, as we worry about losing our freedoms, let’s remember what these freedoms are for. As Timothy Snyder says in, On Freedom, “Knowledge of the past is a reservoir of power and self liberation.” We will draw strength and courage from our ancestors, as we discern how best to exercise our freedoms today. In person and online.
This week will be a special First (or Second..) Sundays for Families due to the Rockford Grange hosting Fill Your Pantry on our usual First Sunday.
